AI Threat Assessment
Artifical Intelligence, we are told, and may experience, holds tremendous promise to save people from the drugery of work, the ailemnts of disease, and greater material abundance From saving the plantary ecology from human greed and exploitation, healing illness with new medical breakthroughs, creating new works of art, music and literature with a simply prompt, or merely saving people valuable labor in completing routine tasks; most people are now convinced that AI is the “greatest thing since sliced bread”.
Yet are we aware of the risks, both immediate, near term and longer term that come with its ubiquitous use in our lives? We have comprised a Threat Assessment of AI, paradoxically perhaps, with the research assistance (with strict human oversight) of AI itself (Chat GPT 4). We encourage you to track your use of AI over time, as well as your human capacities to see how you might be being influenced slowly. The anology of the frog being cooked in hot water by raising the temperature slowly is apropos. If you don’t need it in your life, or to accomplish what you are here to do, why bother? There are likely more meaningful ways to spend your tme.
