Our Human Future

About

What Our Human Future covers, how it works and how it is made.

Our Human Future is an editorial site about the technologies that are changing what it means to be human, and the institutions that govern them. We follow five tracks:

  • AI Alignment: AI safety, governance, alignment and sovereignty.
  • Robotics: Robotics and embodied AI in warfare, industry and household deployment.
  • Human Augmentation: Neurotechnology and AI-enabled physical, sensory, cognitive and physiological augmentation.
  • Technocracy: How technology reshapes democratic institutions, elections, information and the concentration of power.
  • Work Displacement: How AI and automation change jobs, wages, skills and the economics of work.

How we work

Every published story shows its primary and secondary sources, with links to the originals, so you can check our reporting against the evidence. Each story also carries an evidence label that says how well established its central claims are. Our methodology explains our standards and how we correct mistakes.

Some images on this site are AI-generated illustrations made with xAI’s Grok. An editor checks each one before it is used, and every AI-generated image is labelled as such.

The Weekly Brief

The Weekly Brief gathers the most significant developments across our tracks. Subscribe for free and choose every brief or only the tracks you follow.

We’re looking for volunteer editors to help research, fact-check and edit stories across our five tracks. If you care about careful, well-sourced reporting on how technology is changing our lives, we’d love to hear from you.

Your background and what you would like to help with. Up to 1000 characters.

We use your details only to consider your application and to contact you about volunteering. We do not add your email to any mailing list.
